Dog owners are a loyal, growing market. Over half of UK pet owners travel with their dogs, and they'll pay more for a property that genuinely welcomes them. The problem is finding those properties. The big OTAs bury pet policies three clicks deep, and "pets allowed" tells a dog owner almost nothing about what to actually expect when they arrive.
That's the gap we fill. BowWowsWelcome is a directory built specifically for pet-friendly holiday rentals, with the detail that dog owners look for before they book: fenced gardens, pet fees, breed restrictions, how many dogs, what's provided, and what's nearby for walks.
The BowWow Score
Every property on the site gets a BowWow Score, our rating of how pet-friendly it genuinely is. It's calculated from the things that matter to travelling dog owners: whether the garden is enclosed, whether there are dog walks and beaches nearby, how many pets you accept, what you charge, and what you provide on arrival.
Properties that go beyond "dogs allowed" and into "dogs are part of why people love staying here" score higher. A treat basket and poop bags are nice touches, but a fenced garden and off-lead walks nearby carry more weight. The score is transparent, and guests can see exactly what contributes to it.
If your property is already set up for dogs, your score will reflect that without you having to change a thing.
AI search visibility
This one is newer, and most directories haven't caught up yet. When someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google's AI for pet-friendly holiday recommendations, BowWowsWelcome is built to show up. Our listings are structured for AI assistants to read, query, and recommend directly. Your property doesn't just sit on a website waiting to be found through a Google search, it's findable by the tools people are increasingly using to plan trips.
What we need from you
Getting listed takes a few minutes. We'll ask for:
- Your property name and location
- A link to your booking page or website
- Your pet policy: how many dogs, any breed or size restrictions, what you charge
- What pet amenities you offer (fenced garden, dog bed, washing station, treats, and so on)
- A few photos
No contracts, no onboarding calls, no waiting for approval. Your listing goes live with a BowWow Score calculated from the details you provide, and you can update it whenever you like.
Who runs this?
BowWowsWelcome is an independent directory, not backed by an OTA or booking platform. We're building it because we travel with dogs ourselves and got tired of the guesswork. The site launched in 2026 and we're actively growing the collection, starting with the UK.
